Breathtaking Cruises

Blue Lagoon Cruises

Introduction

‘Blue Lagoon Cruises’ are a boutique cruise company specialising in cruises around the Fiji Islands. Unlike other cruise companies they have specially made ships to enable them to travel through the sometimes rough waters of Fuji to areas of the islands which other cruise ships cannot, including certain areas of the Yasawa Islands. The company was launched in 1950 by a New Zealand captain and an Australian aviator. Completely staffed by Fujian people, ‘Blue Lagoon Cruises’ aim to ensure passengers have an authentic Fijian experience throughout their vacation. Today ‘Blue Lagoon Cruises’ donate a lot of money towards the villages on the Yasawa Islands to help them construct schools and medical clinics.

Ships

‘Blue Lagoon Cruises’ have three ships all specially built for the Fijian waters. The ships include the MV Mystique Princess, the MV Fiji Princess and The MV Nanuya Princess. The maximum number of passengers onboard at one time is 72, making this a completely unique and personal experience for everyone onboard.

Dining and Entertainment

Every ‘Blue Lagoon’ cruise has a range of dining experiences, and five meals a day are included in the price. Morning and afternoon tea is served on one of the Fijian islands and cocktails are served onboard the ship in the evenings.

Scuba diving is available on all of the cruises for certified divers. None certified divers can opt to snorkel or even take their ‘discovery scuba’ course on vacation provided they book before travelling. Other activities include swimming, sunbathing, paddle boarding, fishing and sail boarding.

Itineraries

‘Blue Lagoon Cruises’ offer a choice of a 3 day, 4 day or 7 day vacation. They also offer a special 7 day historical and cultural cruise three times a year. On the seven day vacation the boat departs from Lautoka and sails around the Yasawa Islands, returning to Lautoka on the seventh night. During the night, the boat moors in the sheltered bays, and around four hours each day is spent cruising through the waters. Each day there is something new for passengers to try including visiting a traditional Fijian village, viewing the fish and reefs onboard a glass bottomed boat and having a Fijian massage. Prices start from $3236 per person for a seven day cruise, with family, wedding and group packages all available.

Review

“I have just returned home with my family after a two week vacation with Blue Lagoon Cruises. We chose to go on the historical and cultural cruise and then the seven day gold club cruise. We booked directly with Blue Lagoon Cruises and saved a lot of money compared to if we had booked through travel agents. We absolutely loved our two weeks on board. The historical cruise is fascinating and definitely worth the money. You will see the real Fiji. We went on lots of trips to the villages, the schools and much more. We could also swim, snorkel and relax.

The second cruise we went on was the 7 day Gold Club Cruise. We had an amazing time, and participated in many of the activities that were on offer. This cruise was more relaxing than the first, but having said that my family were so glad we went on both. The staff were fantastic, the food delicious and the boat was excellent. The weather was warm and with many open decks it was perfect. The staff on board were amazing as well; the whole family was treated like part of their family. The crew were happy in their work and were a pleasure to be around.
